My name is Mai Xuân Tú. My surname is MAI. In Vietnam the custom is for the surname to precede the first name - Xuân Tú (pronounced Soong Tu). I live in Da Nang and am proud and passionate about my country, its people and my culture.  I speak English extremely well as I am university educated at Da Nang College of Languages and have lived for a time in Australia studying English.  I translate complex English-Vietnamese-English for companies which have included the National Scientific & Technology Centre of Canberra and the US Air National Guard.

My Team and I are only too pleased to offer visitors my company's service as Private Tour guides to our hometowns of Da Nang, the Imperial city of Hue, My Son Sanctuary and the ancient town of Hoi An. Our speciality is catering to single travellers, couples, small groups of friends and families, providing a personal experience.

Female travellers in particular may find comfort in another female companion as a guide who understands their needs perfectly. My team are male & female.

Our Cruise Ship visitors to Chan May & Tien Sa ports are not forgotten. Please refer to our Private Shore Excursion page for 8 tours specifically designed with cruise passengers in mind.

Let us customise your visit to our country with a personal "one on one" touch. Whether it is a few hours strolling in Hoi An, Hue, Da Nang or a bicycle trip through the country side or for the ladies a unique shopping experience. We can take you through the sensual smells of our markets, shops and the taste experiences of the foods Vietnam is famous for. Nothing is set - everything is flexible with the focus on fun. If you want to experience more of Vietnam, my company can organise cooking & eating experiences that will have you salivating for more, or for the more adventurous, motorbike trips to the countryside for several days to experience the real Vietnam. Experience the DMZ battlefields, ethnic hill tribes, the jaw dropping Paradise & Phong Nha caves and more. Modern air conditioned vehicles also available on request with professional drivers.

Airport transfers, orientations, 'Meet & Greet' and translation services can be organised, we recommend hotels with no kickbacks or commissions to ourselves. This is to ensure that recommendations made are based on your interests alone.  Because commissions are endemic and customary as a way of earning a living, any commission if offered will be given back to you or donated to a charity of your choice. I personally support an Australian, Rotary affiliated organisation called "Artists for Orphans" who provide care to orphanages containing children still affected by Agent Orange in Vietnam - this is registered with the Victorian Dept of Justice #12541.

My team and I want you to experience the very best our amazing country has to offer at an affordable price, you will find our costs very reasonable and dependent on your itinerary.

I employ a team of 4 government licensed guides to help me with the ever increasing number of visitors requesting tours.  We now offer some 12 Private Tours & Private Shore Excursions plus the additional services listed above.  As you can understand, I am unable to guide every tour but my team are trained by me and are excellent English speakers, all are university educated.  We have found that clients often have firm favourites and many return to use our services, asking for a guide by name if available.

As a Private Tour the itinerary is totally flexible depending on your interests and we can even decide on the day when we meet. We can take you to food nirvana and am happy to spend part of the evenings with you if you wish, or we recommend great places to eat. Most Private Tours last up to 10 hours, half days around 5 hours.

Private Shore Excursions have a slightly more rigid structure and different time frame to ensure we meet the requirements of cruise ship passengers and a timely return to port for the evening's sailing.

No deposit is required. You can pay us at the end of each tour. Please contact me for further information

Trip Advisor Reviews

Eb Friedrich. Melbourne Australia: "Best Guide Ever"

My son and I spent several weeks with Xuan Tu in Da Nang, Hoi An and traveling with motorbikes through central Vietnam last August 2013. We had an absolute ball. Xuan Tu is very professional and passionate about her country and culture. Her English is excellent and she has a lovely charm and very caring personality. Xuan Tu has become a close friend through our time together and I have no hesitation in recommending her as your personal guide. Her specialty is guiding single travelers or couples and family groups but never mixed with other clients. We chose this option over the conventional tour groups. We were delighted that we did this and for a price no dearer than crowded tour groups. Xuan Tu is scrupulously honest and refuses "commissions" from traders you may encounter or gives these back to you when they are passed to her hand. She will only refer you to reputable dealers. You will have the unique experiences only a local can give you.

Fons Maes. Belgium: “Exciting excursion with Xuân Tú!”

After all the good reviews on Trip Advisor, we booked in full confidence a tour with Xuân Tú. As her English is very good it was easy to communicate with her by e-mail to set up a program so we could take the most profit of the stop on our cruise in Da Nang.
She picked us up outside the portgate and as she was accompagnied by her friend Lam, we had two people to guide us.
First we drove to Hoi An and she offered us a tastful sandwich at a famous sandwichbar. Then we visited a few famous landmarks (e.g. the Japanse bridge), but most of the time we left the beaten track and visited an old merchant house which is now in use by a local artist. As it was a little bit drizzling, she bought for the four of us the typical Vietnamese hats to protect for us from the rain.
Then we took a boat to Kim Bong Carpentry village and visited a small wharf for local boat building. Next we were invited in a family home where we saw the way of life and the production of rice paper and rice noodles. We even produced some noodles ourselves (fantastic experience). We enjoyed the hospitality of the family and were offered a snack and tea.
We headed back to the city and had a marvellous lunch in a local restaurant where we tasted one of the specialities: ‘banh bao banh vac’ also called white roses.
Going back to Da Nang we stopped at the Marble Mountains and visited Thuy Son (water mountain) and be sure she knows the site very well because she showed us some secret places!
After a brief visit to Lady Buddha, she dropped us off at the port entrance and we embarked the ship with lovely memories, leaving 2 new friends behind.
Important: during the whole tour she gave us plenty of time to take pictures.
Xuân Tú is a perfect organizer and a very funny person. If you are looking for a guide in Da Nang, Hoi An or surroundings: do not hesitate and book a tour with this lovely lady. She has an extensive knowledge about history, culture and religion.

Matt Symonds. Australia: “Great day full of cultural heritage and lots of laughs!”

4 of my friends and I did the Hoi An tour with Xuan Tu and Lam. Xuan Tu was very informative and full of knowledge about Hoi An and Da Nang. Lam also knew a lot although he has been doing it as long as Xuan. Xuan is a ball of energy and always made us laugh. We all loved the bike riding part of the tour visiting a rice noodle house where they make all the noodles fresh everyday and also a lovely family home where they make all the colourful floor and place mats for your house. The family was so nice and taught us how to make them, made us a beautiful fresh corn soup (best I've ever had). The young boy that lived there was so cute and funny, he took us swimming in the river with him (up to you if you want to get in) but a time I will also remember. Xuan and Lam accommodated our every needs and wants on the tour even if it wasn't part of the tour. They don't stress over time or try and hurry you along to the next thing. It was great. We mentioned that it was one of our friends birthday during the tour and when they took us to this beautiful traditional tea house where we had fresh ice tea and a foot spa, they had surprised us with a special birthday cake with our friends name on it and everything. They went above and beyond for us and we loved that they cared so much!!! They do a lot of tours around Vietnam, from Da Nang right down the HCM city (Saigon) and next time we come back, and we are coming back! We will be doing another tour with them for sure! I also did the Hue tour with Xuan Tu tours, Anthony was our guide for the day and he also was very polite, smart, spoke great English and knew so much about the past 1000's of year in Vietnamese history and culture.
So all I can say is Xuan Tu tours is the best we have had in Vietnam and I've been here three times already!! Loved the experience and the memories with Xuan Tu and the team!! If I could give 10 stars on this I would! See you next time.

Margaret. England: "2nd Time & Unbelievably Better Than the 1st"

On our 2nd visit to Vietnam we chose to return to Da Nang as our main centre so we could specifically use the services of Xuan Tu Vietnam Tours again.
An inspired choice: from the welcome meal on our arrival to the iced coffee at Da Nang airport at our farewell.
We used Xuan Tu Vietnam Tours over 3 days, a day tour of Da Nang and its surrounds, a Ladies Day for Margaret whilst I travelled across the 'Top Gear' pass with her team member Tommy - what a stunning day for us both! The third day involved much shopping and food/drink in Da Nang with the personal services of both Xuan Tu herself plus her mother (and there's no-one better at negotiating prices than Mrs Mai - believe me!!)
Additionally, Xuan Tu arranged a half day and evening tour of Hanoi for us when we were there for 2 days - this with a close associate of hers).
Xuan Tu is a professional, articulate and university educated young Vietnamese lady who cares passionately about her family, country and clients - use this lady and her team when in Vietnam because trust me, you will be disappointed if you don't.

Sean 9 years old. America: "BEST TOUR GUIDE EVER!!!”

My parents found Xuan through TripAdvisor. Normally I have found tour guides to be boring, but as soon as we met Xuan I knew she was going to be the best tour guide I have ever had. She has great character and personality, and is very knowledgable, especially about all the best places to eat. She is very proud of her home town, the heritage sites around it, and the beautiful country of Vietnam. We did two day tours with Xuan, and they really made our visit to Danag so much more memorable. Overall Xuan was the best tour guide ever, and anyone looking for a great tour guide in the Danang area must choose Xuan! She is more than a tour guide, she is my friend! Thanks Xuan, from Sean (and Senifa and Justin)!
