Da Nang is my hometown and one of the top three cities that Vietnamese people love to live in. This essential Da Nang Highlights and Ba Na Hills private tour will take you on a full-day adventure to the city’s top attractions and hidden highlights. We will visit stunning landmarks such as the Marble Mountains, the Lady Buddha statue, the Dragon Bridge, the oldest cafe in Da Nang, and last but not least, Ba Na Hills and the famous Golden Bridge.
I’ve designed my 50/50 Da Nang ‘highlights’ & Ba Na Hills full-day private tour to address many of the issues with Ba Na. Your tour includes an early afternoon arrival at the cable car station once the often legthy queues have reduced, a chance to enjoy an authentic Vietnamese lunch in Da Nang rather than the resort’s mass-catering, plus a cost-effective day that includes Da Nang city’s top ‘highlights’.
Sun World’s Ba Na Hills can be tricky to navigate at the height of tourist season, and we’re here to make your trip easier and more about fun than waiting in lines.
Da Nang is a modern and outward-looking city but has a long history, established around the time of our ancient Champa Kingdom. With an 8:30 AM hotel ‘meet & greet’ our first stop is the traditional “ca phe sua” Vietnamese coffee at the oldest coffee shop in Da Nang.
Throughout the morning, you will visit the spectacular Marble Mountains with peaks, caves, tunnels and temples reached by elevator. Then following is sandy My Khe beach once used by US military forces as an R&R location and now with its many international luxury hotels – a beach voted as one of the world’s ‘top-10’ by Forbes Magazine. Our driver will take us through the city and over Da Nang’s famous Dragon Bridge to one of our most sacred places of worship – the 18th-century Ling Ung pagoda on Son Tra peninsula (also called Monkey Mountain), with the stunning 67m high Lady Buddha statue overlooking the East Sea with Cham Islands in the distance.
An early lunch can be taken at a Da Nang restaurant of your choice from our great recommendations! (payable locally). Rather than settling for Ba Na Hills’ mediocre meals, you will savour a taste of local cuisine at one of our favourite but not commonly known locally-run Vietnamese restaurants. This chance to enjoy an authentic Vietnamese lunch in Da Nang rather than the resort’s mass-catering will make your experience with Ba Na Hills more relaxing, unique, and affordable.
Our afternoon is at the exciting Sun World Ba Na, a hill resort originally established by the French some 36km west of Da Nang’s city centre. At 1,487m (4,890ft) above sea level, it offers stunning views in good weather, as well as refreshingly cool weather at the mountain range’s peak, so remember to bring comfy walking shoes and maybe an extra layer of clothes, as when it’s 36° in Da Nang city, it can be 15° on the mountain!
Reached by one of the world’s longest cable car systems travelling over spectacular jungle and waterfalls, Ba Na is becoming ‘the’ popular attraction of Central Vietnam and we will help you see it the best possible way.
Ba Na Hills includes the resort itself, its picturesque cable car experience, plus the now-famous Golden Bridge. With its popularity has come problems, mostly uncomfortable overcrowding and long cable car queues in the morning after 9am. This is why we have a found a better solution and will take you up the cable care to visit the bridge in the afternoon when the queues have decreased.
Please note the entry fees cover your cable car rides, Ba Na Hills Resort entry and viewing the Golden Bridge. Ticket price is 850,000.00 VND – which is currently about $40.00 USD each for adults and children over 1.3m tall. Children 1m to 1.3m tall are about $17.00 USD each, while children under 1m are free.
To view the Golden Bridge, you will pay for and take the resort’s cable car journey to the top of the Trường Sơn mountain range – the bridge is not a stand-alone attraction. Views of the resort and the bridge from the cable car are fantastical in good weather. Sometimes the views are subject to weather conditions, and when Da Nang has light rain or is cloudy and overcast, there can be almost zero visibility towards the top of our Trường Sơn mountain range.
After the bridge is an adventure around the resort and Be Na Hills attractions. My clients tell me that families with young children can easily spend a full day within the resort, but families with older children are happy with a half-day visit.
Inside, you will discover a replica French provincial town, a funicular railway and exciting downhill alpine luge. There are sprawling formal gardens (now with the famous Golden Bridge towering above the Thien Thai garden), and often singers & dancers perform. Mountain tracks lead to waterfalls and viewing points. Near the mountaintop is Linh Ung Pagoda built in 2004 with a giant 24m-high white seated Buddha – visible for miles around! There are many free facilities and attractions for children of all ages.
Your excellent English-speaking guide will be by your side the entire time, explaining the historical context and cultural significance of these must-see destinations. You will experience both Da Nang’s bustling downtown area and beautiful seaside roads, naturally-formed landmarks such as the Marble Mountains and fantastical structures such as the hilltop Golden Bridge with sweeping views of Da Nang.
Our team of young, energetic, and excellent English-speaking tour guides has exclusive insight into where to find top-notch vegan cuisine in Da Nang. You will experience Da Nang’s authentic Vietnamese culture and mouthwatering food with a local guide. We can’t wait to meet you!
